As part of Vincent Dagenais Gibson’s litigation team, Ian’s practice involves a broad range of general corporate commercial litigation. The experience Ian brings to the litigation team has been gained through his numerous appearances before the Ontario Civil courts on motions and trials. Ian also has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Canada.

Working closely with clients, Ian advises them on how to strategically proceed in litigious matters in order to assure the most favourable result to the client, including through the use of alternative dispute resolution methods.

REPRESENTATIVE WORK
• Successfully represented Carevest Capital Inc. on Ontario Court of Appeal ruling that confirmed the right of plaintiff to initiate a motion for summary judgement before a mandatory mediation under the Rules of Civil Procedure takes place., 2010 ONCA 41
• Successfully represented Spirent Communications on Ontario Court of Appeal ruling that a delay in occupancy is not a fundamental breach (Spirent Communications of Ottawa Limited v. Quake Technologies (Canada) Inc., 2008 ONCA 92 )
